*Shrug*. I didn't really find anything offensive in his post. I was thinking about asking the same thing the other day while browsing TT.net. I've watched it gradually get slower over the 7-ish years. It seems that the hardware that the database server is running on is becoming a little aged. HTTP requests are snappy, but any action that requires reading/writing to the forum's datastore takes quite a while to process. I was especially thinking about this the other day because I just upgraded some servers at home and now have a few spares lying around that could be put to use (assuming the current hardware is older/slower). Hell, I'd even host a mirrored database (although I don't really have the time right now to maintain it). I've been tinkering with computers/electronics as a passionate hobby since I was a little kid and I've worked in IT for the past 11 years. I currently host web servers, database servers, and VM hosts for the Department of Energy (not gloating, just stating that I have experience). If there is anything I can do to help the community, please let me know. I've been on 3ZC for quite a few years, and that place seems to have been attracting a lot of people that I can't tolerate. I took a few years off from modifying/working on my Z (bought a bike), and when I came back, it didn't really feel like 'home'. Maybe I'm just an elitist prick, but TT.Net seems to have a higher percentage of intelligent people. Again, if I can donate some time/money/hardware, please let me know. -Mike
